Arjun Infrastructure Partners is an independent asset management company dedicated to executing and managing mid-market infrastructure investments. Founded in 2015, Arjun now manages €3.9 billion of capital on behalf of 20 prominent institutional investors.
Arjun’s team of 25 professionals and a further 10 industry partners has extensive operational and financial experience in the utilities, energy & renewables, digital and transportation infrastructure sectors. Surinder is the Founding Partner of Arjun Infrastructure. He has a successful track record in acquiring and managing infrastructure investments, combining strong asset management operational experience. Until 2014 Surinder was Head of Europe for J.P. Morgan’s Global Infrastructure Investment Fund. Surinder was previously the CFO of Scotia Gas Networks, ran the European operations of American Electric Power and held positions with Arthur Andersen Energy & Utilities Group.
Charles has been a Partner at Arjun since its creation. He has held several senior financial and operational management positions in the utility sector. He was previously an adviser to investors in energy and utility businesses. From 2005 until 2011, Charles was CFO of Wales & West Utilities. Prior to this, he worked at American Electric Power and started his career at Deloitte where he spent 16 years providing transaction support, strategy, regulatory and accounting advice in a number of infrastructure sectors and geographies.
Peter is a Partner at Arjun. His background covers regulated companies, transport regulation, and the management of infrastructure funds and investments. Peter joined Arjun from the Office of Rail and Road, where as the Highways Director overseeing a £15bn investment programme. He was previously an executive director in JP Morgan's Infrastructure Investment Fund. Prior to this, Peter was the Strategy and Regulation Director of Thames Water and worked with Macquarie Bank, creating and managing the €6bn European infrastructure funds. He started his career with Accenture.
Serkan is a Partner and Head of Research at Arjun since 2018. Serkan is an economist focussing on infrastructure investments research. Before joining Arjun, Serkan was the Head of Infrastructure Research at J.P. Morgan Asset Management’s Infrastructure Investment Group between 2007 and 2018, and led the first dedicated infrastructure investment research team in the global asset management industry. Serkan started his career as an academic and was a faculty member at the Department of Economics of Brandeis University. Serkan holds a PhD in Economics from Brown University.
François has been a Partner with Arjun since it was founded, with responsibility for business development. Until the end of 2014, he was responsible for all client relationships and capital raising for the J.P. Morgan infrastructure product platform across Europe and the Middle East. Before this François spent two decades at Citi in Paris and London. As the co-head of marketing and distribution for Europe at Citi Alternative Investments, François led a team, responsible for all senior level relationships covering alternative products including infrastructure.
Partner & General Counsel
Thomas is a Partner and Arjun’s General Counsel. He joined Arjun infrastructure from leading international law firm Kirkland & Ellis where he was a partner in the investment funds team, focused on advising infrastructure sponsors and institutional investors on their fund formation and fund investment activities. Thomas was previously a managing director in the Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets (MIRA) division of the Macquarie Group in London, where he spent 11 years.
Julie is a Managing Director, responsible for investment operations and risk management. She has over 17 years of experience as financial executive in the investment management industry. Prior to joining Arjun, Julie was CFO and Company Secretary of RARE Infrastructure, an Australian listed infrastructure fund manager. She held senior finance positions at ING Real Estate Investment Management in Paris, and started her career at EY.
Romain is a Managing Director, responsible for originating and executing investments. He was previously the CIO for African Infrastructure Investment Managers, formerly Macquarie-Old Mutual. Prior to that, Romain was the Head of European Transactions for J.P. Morgan Asset Management’s Infrastructure Investment Group and was one of the founding team members in Europe. Before that, Romain worked at HSBC and Société Générale, where he structured and executed over $30bn of infrastructure transactions.
Rohini is a Managing Director at Arjun where she is responsible for originating and executing investments. She brings over 15 years’ experience in the financial services industry. Her focus in the last 10 years has been in the transportation and digital sectors across Europe and the UK, as well as in the utility and renewable spaces. Prior to Arjun, she was Head of Distribution for Power and Infrastructure Finance at Investec and before that she was a senior originator in NatWest’s Infrastructure and Project Finance team. She started her career at SREI infrastructure and then G.E. Capital.
Nick is a Managing Director at Arjun, with responsibility for business development. Prior to joining Arjun in 2019, Nick was a Principal at Campbell Lutyens (CL) with responsibility for LP and consultant relationships in the UK and Netherlands. At CL Nick also advised infrastructure GPs and LPs across a range of primary and secondary transactions. Before joining CL in 2010, Nick was a member of EY’s Infrastructure Advisory team focussing on renewable energy asset transactions, having joined EY’s corporate finance graduate programme in 2006.
Adam is a Managing Director at Arjun Infrastructure. He joined in 2019, having previously worked at Scottish Equity Partners, acting as Director of Finance and Head of Asset Management for SEP’s energy infrastructure fund. During this time, Adam also acted as Finance Director for Indigo Pipelines. Prior to that, Adam worked for a firm providing asset management services to a number of social infrastructure (PFI/PPP) assets on behalf of several major infrastructure funds. Adam trained as a Chartered Accountant (ICAEW), specialising within Corporate Finance.
Eugene is a Managing Director at Arjun. He has 14 years of experience in infrastructure deal execution and asset management in the power, utilities, and transportation sectors, both in OECD countries and emerging markets. Prior to joining Arjun, Eugene was a Vice President at J.P. Morgan Asset Management, with a focus on European investments for J.P. Morgan’s Infrastructure Investment Fund. Eugene was also previously at the International Finance Corporation of the World Bank Group, where he worked on various privatisation and project finance deals in Eastern Europe, North Africa, Latin America, and Asia.
Nigel is a Managing Director. He joined in 2019 as senior asset manager with a 35 years track record. Prior to joining Arjun, Nigel worked as the Business Development Director at EP UK Investments with particular focus on the Lynemouth Power coal-to-biomass conversion including negotiating and optimising the associated global supply contracts. Previously he worked with Eggborough Power Ltd , Drax plc on the delivery of a major biomass asset, at Merrill Lynch on a number of EMEA restructuring projects and as an Executive Director of Roland Berger UK Ltd.
Julian is Managing Director Asset Management at Arjun infrastructure and has 35 years experience in the UK Energy sector.
Julian joined Arjun from EP UK Investments where he was Head of Risk, focussing on the commercial operation and optimisation of various generation assets and the management of commodity price risk.
Julian was previously Director of Risk at SGN, Director of Generation Trading at AEP Europe and Head of Risk at SEEBoard.
Roxane is a Principal at Arjun. She is actively involved in all aspects of Arjun’s acquisition process. Since joining, she has worked in the Water sector and on various utility businesses.
Prior to joining Arjun, Roxane was a manager in Corporate Finance at PwC for 4 years, where she focussed on advising both public and private sector clients on large transport infrastructure projects in the UK.
She started her career in Credit Agricole’s Corporate and Investment Bank covering power and natural resources (mining, oil & gas) sectors in Europe, the Middle-East and Africa.
Mattis is a Principal at Arjun. He joined in 2019.
Previously, Mattis was an Associate with Nebrodi Partners, where he focused on private equity and debt investments in the US mid-market. He began his career as management consultant with Roland Berger Strategy Consultants in Germany, where he was Project Manager and worked in infrastructure-related industries in Europe.
Mattis holds an MBA from Yale School of Management and an MSc in Industrial Engineering from the Technical University of Berlin.
Christian is a Principal at Arjun Infrastructure. Since joining Arjun in early 2017, he has worked on a range of transactions in the renewable energy and transport sectors.
Prior to joining Arjun, Christian worked as a consultant at Q5 where he focussed on financial modelling, business strategy, and organisation design. Christian started his career in IBM’s consultancy practice.
Christian has passed Level II of the CFA program.
Chris is an Associate at Arjun where he is involved in the execution of new investments and the asset management of existing investments within the portfolio. Prior to joining Arjun, Chris was a Manager at PwC with 5 years’ experience of infrastructure valuations where he provided advice to infrastructure funds in respect of their investments in regulated utilities, transport and energy. Chris trained as a Chartered Accountant (ICAEW).
Will is an Analyst at Arjun. He initially joined the team at the beginning of 2018 as a graduate trainee. In July 2018 he was offered a permanent position and became part of the investment team of Arjun. Will is actively involved in various aspects of Arjun’s business activities with a primary focus on supporting the asset management side of the portfolio.
Will holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Economics and Business from the University of Kent and is currently studying for Level I of the CFA program.
Dmitry joined Arjun in 2019 as Analyst to strengthen the growing asset management team with a specific focus on renewable assets. Prior to joining Arjun Dmitry was Trading Analyst for EP UK Investments (a subsidiary of EPH) building market fundamental models to guide EP’s power trading desk. He started his career at Gazprom Marketing & Trading covering Gas and Power business development projects in Europe.
Dmitry holds an MSc from Imperial College London and BSc from University of York in Economics.
Peter is an Industry Partner at Arjun. He has a background in banking and finance as well as economic regulation. He was a Senior Financial Adviser at Ofgem from 1997-08 and Corporate Finance Adviser at Ofwat from 2000-06. He has been a non-executive director of two UK regulatory authorities, the Office of Rail and Road (2004-14) and Ofwat (2006-11). He is the former non-executive chairman of Open Water Market Ltd.
Keith is an Industry Partner at Arjun and a non- executive board member at South Staffordshire Water. He provides strategic, financial, regulatory and operational advice to governments, regulators, investors, banks and company boards. He is a non-executive director at Ervia and SSWPlc, is an Advisory Board member of Buckthorn Partners, and an associate of OXERA. He spent many years as deputy CEO and CFO of Wessex Water.
Marcela is an Industry Partner at Arjun and acts as a chairman on the ONroute board. She has over 25 years of international experience in the privatised airport industry in both the operational businesses and for airport infrastructure investment funds. Marcela specialises in maximising commercial airport business plans and airport business acquisitions and valuations. Marcela was Chairman and non-executive Board Director for the North Queensland Airports group companies.
